THIRD BEACH DUCK RACE
MEC's annual summer fundraiser, the Third Beach Duck Race, is a great community family event held at Middletown's town beach. Hundreds of rubber ducks race to raise money to help fund educational programs for Middletown public school students. Little ones (and grown ups as well!!) love watching hundreds of rubber ducks race along the waters of Third Beach for a chance to win $1,000! In addition to the race, MEC organizes family-friendly beach games, face painting, a DJ and food. And, of course, Quackers is always there to join in the fun!
HOW DOES THE DUCK RACE WORK?
The duck race works like a raffle. Each duck that races is sponsored for $10 (sold before AND the day of the race). When you purchase/sponsor a duck you are assigned a number (think of it like a raffle ticket number), that corresponds with a numbered duck. If the duck with your corresponding number crosses the finish line first, you win the race. Prizes are awarded to the first 10 ducks to cross the finish line. This year our ducks raced for the following prizes: First Prize–$1,000, Second Prize–$350 and Third Prize–$150. Prizes (donated by our sponsors and other local businesses) are also awarded to the 4th-10th place finishers.
